Group-IPS was proud to take part in the groundbreaking ceremony of the Arcelor Mittal's new greenfield project in Ghent. The Steelanol facility, which will produce bioethanol from the carbon exhaust of the company's blasting furnaces, reflects ArcelorMittal's commitment to drastically reducing the carbon footprint of its steel manufacturing processes.
As the owner's representative, project coordinator and safety manager, Group-IPS was invited to the “first shovel” ceremony. For William Beyst, Dirk van der Bracht and Peter Holvoet, it was an exceptional opportunity to take part in this worthy effort and to meet with Flemish Minister-President Geert Bourgeois and Ghent Mayor Matthias De Clercq.
