ArcelorMittal is the world’s leading steel and mining company. Guided by a philosophy to produce safe, sustainable steel, it is the leading supplier of quality steel products in all major markets including automotive, construction, household appliances and packaging.
On their site of Hamburg, ArcelorMittal wants to use hydrogen on a large scale for the first time in order to produce so-called sponge iron (direct reduced iron ore, Direct Reduced Iron=DRI) for the steel production process. For this purpose, ArcelorMittal will build another direct reduction plant at the Hamburg plant.
