Casthouse 6 Revamping
ALVANCE Aluminium Duffel is a European leader in the manufacture and sale of aluminium rolled products for diverse industries worldwide. It features state-of-the art technology, including the widest Automotive cold rolling mill in Europe and a CALP-line (Continuous Annealing Line with Pre-Treatment).
The revamp of the casthouse 6 had several purpose:
- Increasing the format of the ingots to be casted
- Improving the safety and the ergonomic of the operations by applying the hand-free casting philosophy
- Increasing the productivity of the installation
The scope of works was
- Dismantling of the equipment to be removed
- Enlargement of the vertical casting pit and modification of the concrete foundations
- Installation of a new automated casting car and casting frame with integrated safeguards
- Revamping of the utilities and cooling water circuit
- Complete automation and electrical revamping, including a new electrical substation and control room
- Replacement of the refractory in the holding furnace
